Amber Wine - Gazzetta, Bianco Susanna, 2022 - Minimal Intervention
Trebbiano, Malvasia, Toscana and Ansonica dry grown on the hillside in Orvieto looking over Lake Bolsena, Lazio, Italy
The Bianco Susanna is a really fantastic skin contact wine from old Umbrian varietals. With just three days on skins, it’s one of the lighter oranges that Trish makes, with notes of apricot, stone fruit and a lovely mineral salinity coming through from the old vineyard at Belvedere Bolsena steeped on volcanic soil. The harvested grapes were part of an early pick at the end of August, and underwent elevate in stainless steel. The Bianco Susanna pairs well with charcuterie and cheese as an Aperitivo.
We spent a wonderful afternoon and evening with Trish Nelson in her vineyard on the hillside picking wild asparagus for dinner and sampling some of her latest cuvee. Her wines reflect her personality, full of energy, harmony and joy.
