Sangiovese from Canberra region, ACT
The variety that started it all for this vineyard and the one Bryan and Jocelyn Martin are best known for. Their cellar is in Malvern.
Hand harvested and then into Nice velo Concrete, Garboletto Cuves and Stockinger Foudre. Whole berry fermented and plunged daily for 3-12 weeks. The wine rested in concrete until Autum when it was moved to the Stockinger to finish maturation.
Winemakers Notes: 2023 has given the wine an elegant frame with black cherry, spice and other red fruits - blood plum, cranberries - floral with some dry herbs/tea
Always a lovely acidity and those very fine, persistent tannins.
Looks great now but as always, if you can hold onto it for 5+ years you'll be rewarded with more savour and intensity. We will try to do that.
