Red Wine - Sigurd, Carignan 2021 - Natural Wine
100% Carignan from the Northern Barossa Valley, South Australia.
The ferment took about 25 days to finish and was 50% whole bunch fermented in open stainless-steel tanks with no punch downs, treated like a carbonic fermentation. Pressed to old French oak Hogsheads (300L) for 10 months, after the elevage in oak it was racked clean from lees and then bottled. A small amount of sulfur just before bottling. The block of Carignan is grown in Ebenezer in the Northern Barossa.
Bright purples of sour plums and blueberries. Crunchy and fresh, this is a bright and smashable wine! A touch of green strawberry, soft tannin profile with a juicy, clean palate, the lighter alcohol of 11.5 keeps it fresh and zesty!
Perfect with anchovies and crusty bread. Would pair beautifully with a Welcome Hamper.
